book synopsis:
After inheriting an old, isolated house deep in the countryside, Isabelle decides to restore the property and sell it as quickly as possible. But from the very first night, she realizes the house is not merely old: it seems alive. Creaks echo like sighs, the walls swell as if pulsing, and marks appear in the wood like fingernails trying to claw their way out from within. As Isabelle investigates the property’s past, she uncovers reports of unexplained disappearances and a family that was never able to leave. Little by little, the house begins to change, sealing exits, twisting its hallways, and whispering secrets no one should ever hear. Now Isabelle must discover the truth: did she inherit a house... or was she chosen by it?
